Our Past

Brantland LLC’s legacy actually dates back to 1935. It was the year Amelia Earhart flew solo across the Pacific, Babe Ruth hit his final home run, and Booker “Terry” Brantley Jr. was born.

A native of Troy, AL., Mr. Brantley Jr. eventually moved to Atlanta after high school to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams which quickly became reality. As an innovator of his time, he opened the first gas station to include an automatic car wash in Atlanta, he then went on to own and operate two auto dealerships, Terry Motors and Van Motors. Never a stranger to hard work, Mr. Brantley Jr.’s success continued and his new venture, Greenbriar Lincoln Mercury, was nationally recognized as the first African American car dealer to be listed on the Top 100 List of Lincoln-Mercury car dealers in the nation. He was also recognized in the 1978 Black Enterprise for having the eighth largest black-owned business in America. He attributes his success to tenacity and discipline and joked, “The harder I work…the luckier I get”.

Mr. Brantley Jr’s successful track record didn’t end with the automobile industry. He also was a major contributor to real estate development initiatives in both Stone Mountain and Atlanta. He owned and operated two of the most prestigious nightclubs of the 80’s and 90’s in Stone Mountain; “Hairston’s” and “Flava” and later opened the legendary “Atrium Event Center” which remains a viable operation to this day. In Atlanta, he developed the first luxury community in the historic Cascade area of SW Atlanta which is now home to the Mayor of Atlanta and many other distinguished residents.

Before his death in 2015, Mr. Brantley remained a very active community member and one of Atlanta’s most distinguished citizens.

Our Present

As a young boy, Booker “Terry” Brantley III would watch his father work tirelessly day in and day out to ensure the success of the Brantley Enterprise. Today history repeats itself, as the successor of the business, Mr. Brantley III continues the legacy to innovate, grow, and empower the next generation. A graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA with a BS Degree in Business and a concentration in Personnel Industrial Relations; Mr. Brantley III encompasses many of the same qualities his father exhibited in business; such as; integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and contributes unselfishly to his community.

Immediately after graduation, the younger Brantley joined his father’s business, Terry Brantley Greenbriar Rental & Sales, after much success, the two went on to form the Greenbriar Development Group. A progressive businessman and visionary, he was very instrumental in the company’s development of one of the first African-American, upscale residential subdivisions in the historic Cascade area of southwest Atlanta. Guilford Forest, a 150-acre subdivision with over 100 custom homes, is still one of the leading prestigious residences in Fulton County. Mr. Brantley III was responsible for designing and building million-dollar homes for celebrities and notables such as Too Short, and Creflo Dollar to name a few. He was also the developer of the Lofts of East Point, a pioneering development in the brand new historic loft district in East Point. This mixed-use development created in 2002 is one of the key renovation projects rejuvenating downtown East Point.

In an effort to promote positive images of women in film, Mr. Brantley III was the executive producer of two movies. His first, in 2001, was called Groupies, an urban love story about a rap artist and the potential sincerity of “groupies”. His second movie produced in 2004, was The Kudzu Christmas, a perennial favorite, deals with loss, faith, and determination can be found on the shelves at major rental and retail stores around the country.

The entertainment business has endured for this entrepreneur. During the 90’s Mr. Brantley III also developed a Stone Mountain venue called Flava Club and Grille. It was the first & hottest hip hop clubs of its time and hosted the first Atlanta performances of artists such as Jay Z, Swiss Beats, Ludacris, Old Dirty Bastard, Outkast, Dru Hill, TLC, and the list goes on and on, His company TBVT then developed what is known as The Atrium Event Center (www.booktheatrium.com) located in Stone Mountain, GA It has established itself as the premier performing arts and event center in Dekalb County. TBVT’s success in the entertainment industry led to the acquisition of Memorial Square mixed-use development which now has tenants such as international restaurants, salon suites, business suites, The Atrium Event Center, and several international night clubs. These businesses continue to thrive as they approach the 20 year anniversary of these legendary establishments.

His latest endeavor is a re-entry into the contractor consulting business. He has JV agreements with several DBE, WBE, MBE, and Disabled Vet certified construction companies in GA, NC and SC, and IL. With the expanding footprint of his enterprises, there is a much-anticipated forecast of growth of the organization. Terry continues in his conservative approach yet always pushes the envelope of opportunity.

Terry’s passion for business is equaled by his passion for life and family. As an executive coach to many entrepreneurs, he finds fulfillment in helping his community and young business owners. He recently formed a foundation honoring his father and his family’s legacy called “The Brantley Foundation” which focuses on health care, at-risk youth, and entrepreneurship. He is a city and state championship tennis player as well as an avid boater. He recently celebrated 25 years as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and continues to be a loving husband to his wife Arlene and phenomenal father to four beautiful girls.
